WHO ARE WE?

Christian et Christine Meert were married July 2nd of 1977 in France. They moved to Colorado in July 1999. They have 5 daughters. Three of them live in Colorado, two in France. Christian and Christine already have 8 beautiful grandchildren, half in Colorado, half in France.

Christian and Christine lived in Nebraska the first year of their marriage. A fun detail: they spent their one day honeymoon in Omaha, NE.
Christian was working for an International Irrigation Company. They moved back to
France after one year but kept working for the same Company for fourteen years.

They experienced a deep conversion and made a drastic change in their life in 1990 when they decided to join, with their children, a Catholic community in France, leaving everything behind: job, family, friends, house…

In 1999, Denver's Archbishop Chaput invited their community to start a house of prayer in Denver. Christine and Christian were to be in charge of this new mission until the Summer of 2003. During this time, they started teaching Marriage Preparation classes for the Archdiocese of Denver.

In the Fall of 2003, their community gave them the opportunity and the time to focus more on their call to help couples to prepare for marriage.

In February 2004, a couple from the western slopes,  asked for their help.

Matt and Molly, living so far away, were unable to attend Marriage Preparation classes in Denver. Christine suggested that they do it via email and this is how the web site idea came up!

Since then, hundreds of couples have successfully taken  the online classes and learned a lot through them. You can read their feedback.

Christian and Christine then left the community to devote their time to the marriage preparation ministry completely.

In July 2005, Bishop Michael Sheridan re-opened the Office of Marriage and Family Life in his diocese of Colorado Springs and hired Christian and Christine to run it.

"Christian and Christine Meert have dedicated their lives to preparing couples to live a happy and holy marriage. I am grateful that God called them to minister in our diocese." says Bishop Sheridan.

A non-profit organization has been set up:

CATHOLIC MARRIAGE PREPARATION, Inc.
1-(866) 425-7193

Members of the board are Deano and Karen Gonzales, Mark and Stephanie Koch, Rob and Kate Faughnan, all dedicated to the cause of building strong marriages.
